A jigsaw is the curve-and-cutout saw: a sink opening in a countertop, a scroll in 3/4 plywood, a notch in a 2x, a flush cut next to a cabinet. It is not a circular saw and it is not a reciprocating saw. We match manufacturer specs and kit contents to the Amazon listings we link. We print a street price only where we checked it on a stated date; otherwise check current price and seller on Amazon.
This is not a shop test. Milwaukee is a Home Depot exclusive in the US. We treat the M18 FUEL D-handle jigsaw as the HD benchmark. We do not send you to an Amazon third-party listing for it.

Brushless, variable-speed trigger and dial to 3,200 SPM, 4-position orbital action, all-metal lever-action keyless T-shank clamp, keyless shoe bevel with detents at 0 / 15 / 30 and a positive stop at 45, LED, dust blower, no-mar shoe cover. DeWalt rates the brushless motor for longer runtime vs the older DCS331. That comparison is DeWalt’s. Tool only — saw and a blade in the carton. Battery and charger sold separately.

This is a top-handle. The barrel-grip twin is the DCS335B below. Official kit with a pack in the box is the DCS334P1 (B07JNKGGYV) with a DCB205 5.0Ah, charger, and kit box. That is a battery purchase that happens to include a jigsaw.
Who it’s for. Already on 20V MAX or FLEXVOLT and you want the yellow jigsaw for countertop cutouts, plywood curves, and punch-list notches. Same packs run a cordless drill and an circular saw.

Bosch JS470E — best corded
The Amazon Bosch 7-amp top-handle we can match to the manufacturer page. 7.0 amp, 500–3,100 SPM, 1-inch stroke, Constant Response circuitry, four orbital settings, multi-directional T-shank clamp, tool-less blade ejection, dust blower, 5.6 lb, 14 inches. Bosch rates 5-7/8 inches in soft wood, 3/8 inch in mild steel. Those capacities are Bosch’s. T-shank only — it does not accept U-shank blades. A 7-amp cord does not care about amp-hours. It also does not leave the outlet. DW331K is a real 6.5-amp kit with messy duplicate listings.
If you want a budget corded jigsaw, the SKIL JS314901 corded jigsaw is the budget pick, while the SKIL JS8290B-10 cordless kit is the battery-powered alternative.
Who it’s for. Countertop cutouts and furniture next to an outlet, or anyone who already owns T-shank blades and does not want another battery.

This is the budget cordless we can actually verify as a current V20 SKU. Craftsman rates 0–2,500 SPM, three orbital settings, a 45-degree beveling shoe, a dust blower, and a contoured overmold. It accepts both T-shank and U-shank blades. Tool only. Wood blade in the carton. Battery and charger sold separately. Craftsman.com lists the motor as brushed. Amazon’s catalog tag said “Brushless” — that is listing copy. Use Craftsman.

Who it’s for. No 18V / 20V packs on the shelf and you want one cordless jigsaw kit without buying DeWalt batteries first.

Ryobi PBLJS01B — already on ONE+

Milwaukee 2737-20 — pro benchmark, not an Amazon buy
Milwaukee is a Home Depot line in the US. The current M18 FUEL D-handle jigsaw is the 2737-20 tool-only. Milwaukee rates a POWERSTATE brushless motor at 0–3,500 SPM, a 1-inch stroke (operator manual), T-shank blades, 4-position orbital, toolless bevel detents at 0 / 15 / 30 / 45, LED, and an on/off cut-line blower. Milwaukee rates up to 105 linear feet in 3/4-inch laminated particle board on an XC5.0 pack. That cut count is Milwaukee’s, not a test from us. Confirm the live HD or store tag.
Ace copy listed a 3/4-inch stroke. Milwaukee’s operator manual lists 1 inch. We are using Milwaukee. The barrel-grip sibling at Home Depot is the 2737B-20 (dial 800–3,500 SPM). Same exclusive rule. No Amazon link.
Who it’s for. Pros, or DIY buyers who already live in M18 and can pick the saw up at Home Depot.

Stretch / adjacent — recips, circulars, older corded, brushed 20V
A reciprocating saw and a 7-1/4 circular saw cut different jobs. They are not on this buy list. The DeWalt DW331K is a real 6.5-amp corded top-handle (500–3,100 SPM, T-shank) — multiple ASINs, messier than the JS470E. The DeWalt DCS331B is the older brushed 20V (0–3,000 SPM); the XR pick here is the DCS334B. Ryobi’s compact HP barrel-grip jigsaw exists on Ryobi.com. Festool Carvex is a different price class. Do not buy a recip because a jigsaw page mentioned one.
Buying guide
Top-handle vs barrel-grip. Top-handle (DCS334B, JS470E, CMCS600B, JS8290B-10, PBLJS01B, XVJ03Z, GST18V-50N, Milwaukee 2737-20) is the default two-handed body. Barrel-grip (DCS335B, Milwaukee 2737B-20 at HD) puts your fist on the motor for one-handed curves and a lower sight line. Same packs do not make them the same saw in the hand.
T-shank vs U-shank. Most current clamps on this page are T-shank only (DeWalt XR, Bosch, Ryobi HP, Makita, Milwaukee). The Craftsman CMCS600B still takes T and U. A drawer of old U-shank blades is not a reason to buy a T-only saw and force them.
SPM is not torque. 3,500 SPM on a 2.0Ah SKIL kit is not the same cut as 3,500 SPM on an M18 high-output pack, or on a 7-amp Bosch cord. Shop the motor, the stroke (when the manufacturer prints it), the orbital settings, and the battery you already own.
Corded vs cordless. A 7-amp JS470E does not care about amp-hours. Buy corded next to an outlet. Buy cordless if the work moves, or if you already paid for the batteries. A kit from zero is a battery purchase that happens to include a jigsaw.
Platform lock-in. DeWalt 20V MAX, Ryobi ONE+, Craftsman V20, Makita LXT, SKIL PWR CORE 20, Bosch 18V / AMPShare, and Milwaukee M18 do not share packs. Already own a cordless drill kit? Buy the jigsaw that eats those batteries. Brand comparison: DeWalt vs Milwaukee vs Ryobi.
Kit vs tool only. Only the SKIL JS8290B-10 on this page is a verified cordless kit with a pack and charger. The official DeWalt kit is the DCS334P1. Everything cordless else is tool only. The JS470E is a corded kit — case, not a battery. A cheap bare tool is not a deal if you still have to buy a 2.0Ah and a charger.
Third-party and stock. Check current price and seller on Amazon. The Ryobi listing copy has drifted. Buy Home Depot exclusives at Home Depot, not from third-party Amazon sellers.

Do I need barrel-grip? Only if you want that low fist-on-motor body for curves. Most homeowners who buy one jigsaw should buy a top-handle on packs they already own. The Amazon barrel-grip pick is the DCS335B; check stock at click.
T-shank or U-shank? Buy T-shank unless the clamp you already own is U-only. The Craftsman is the one pick here that still takes both. Bosch JS470E will not take U-shank.
Is 20V better than 18V? Not in the way the carton implies. DeWalt 20V MAX, Craftsman V20, and SKIL 20V sit in the same nominal 18V world as Ryobi ONE+, Makita LXT, Bosch 18V, and Milwaukee M18. Shop the motor, the handle, the shank, and the batteries you already own.
Should I just buy Milwaukee? If you already own M18, buy the 2737-20 at Home Depot. It is the FUEL D-handle benchmark, not an Amazon recommendation. We are not sending you to a gray-market listing.
