This is a gift page, not a spec shootout. Eight wraps: an inflator that works off the wall, a two-battery DeWalt kit, a drill-plus-impact box, a yellow oscillating add-on, a green ONE+ inflator, a 6-gallon pancake, a corded 5-inch sander, and one Milwaukee at Home Depot. We match manufacturer kit contents to the Amazon listing, then send you to the live listing for the current price and seller.
This is not a shop test. Do not wrap a tool-only box if they have no batteries. DeWalt 20V MAX, Ryobi ONE+, Craftsman V20, SKIL PWR CORE 20, Makita LXT, and Milwaukee M18 do not share packs. Milwaukee is a Home Depot exclusive in the US. We do not send you to an Amazon third-party “Milwaukee” listing.
Full category write-ups: cordless drills, impact drivers, impact wrenches, circular saws, orbital sanders, oscillating multi-tools, tire inflators, air compressors.
Quick verdict
Best first kit from zero: DeWalt DCD771C2 — 20V MAX compact drill, two 1.3Ah packs, charger, contractor bag. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Looks like a gift. The brushless DCD777D1 (check availability on Amazon, often third-party) is the swap if you would rather wrap one 2.0Ah and a current motor. Check price on Amazon
Best no-battery inflator: Craftsman CMCE520B — V20 inflator with the 120V wall plug and the 12V car adapter in the carton. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Works tonight without buying a battery. Check current price and seller on Amazon
Best already-on-yellow: DeWalt DCS356B — 20V MAX XR brushless oscillating tool, tool only. Check current price and seller on Amazon. They already own the packs. Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)

A $99 bare driver is not a $99 gift if they still need a pack and a charger. The DCD777D1, SKIL OS5920B-10, and SKIL ID6739B-10 are real kits — they are the swap notes below, not a ninth wrap.
Under $100
Two wraps that work without a battery platform: an inflator that plugs into the wall, and a corded 5-inch sander.
Craftsman CMCE520B — works tonight, no battery needed
Check current price and seller on Amazon
Check current price and seller on Amazon. Digital gauge, auto-shutoff, three power sources: a V20 pack (sold separately), the 120V wall plug in the carton, and the 12V car adapter in the carton. Ball needle, Presta adapter, small-inflatable adapter, large-volume hose. Brushed. 3-year limited warranty (Craftsman). Catalog / dealer pages list 160 PSI; Craftsman.com did not print a max PSI on the page we opened.
This is the simple wrap that does not require you to know their battery aisle. Full inflator list: Best Tire Inflators.
Who it’s for. Anyone who still uses a gas-station hose. Holiday stocking or a driveway gift. Already on V20 — same tool, skip buying another charger.
Who it’s not for. Already on 20V MAX — wrap the DCC020IB (12V cord in the box; AC adapter sold separately). Already on ONE+ — that is the PCL031B below. A pancake that will run a nailer — that is the Bostitch, not a handheld.
Caveats. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Confirm the live title is still CMCE520B. Battery not required for the gift to work. Not a garage compressor.
Check current price and seller on Amazon
DeWalt DWE6423K — corded 5-inch ROS under $100
A corded 5-inch random-orbit kit. 3.0 amp, variable speed 8,000–12,000 OPM, 5-inch 8-hole hook-and-loop, dust bag, carrying case. Check current price and seller on Amazon.
Orbit diameter is not printed on the DeWalt US page we opened. Shop by pad size. Full sander list: Best Orbital Sanders.
Who it’s for. Furniture, doors, a first finish-prep tool next to an outlet. No battery homework.
Who it’s not for. Already on 20V MAX — the cordless DCW210B is the yellow add-on (tool only). Already on ONE+ — PCL406B. A belt sander is a different aisle.
Caveats. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Confirm the title is still DWE6423K — not the fixed-speed DWE6421 and not the 1/4-sheet DWE6411K.
Already on 20V MAX
They own yellow packs. Wrap a tool-only. Do not buy them another charger.
DeWalt DCS356B — the yellow oscillating add-on
Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
20V MAX XR brushless, 3-speed selector, Dual-Grip trigger, Quick-Change plus a universal adapter, LED. Amazon lists 0–13,000 / 0–17,000 / 0–20,000 OPM. Wood-with-nail blade, fast-cut wood blade, adapter in the carton. Read our full DeWalt DCS356 review. Tool only. Check current price and seller on Amazon.
Not Starlock. Full oscillating list: Best Oscillating Multi-Tools.
Who it’s for. They already have a 20V MAX drill and you want the flush-cut / grout / scrape tool they will actually use on a door jamb.
Who it’s not for. Starting from zero — a bare tool plus a pack is not a $100 gift. That kit is the SKIL OS5920B-10 (2.0Ah + charger). Already on ONE+ or M18? Stay there. Fasteners, not flush cuts — wrap the DCF845B 1/4-hex instead (check availability on Amazon, often third-party). See Best Impact Drivers.
Caveats. Marketplace / 3P in the drawer. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Confirm DCS356B tool-only — not the 12V DCS353, not the ATOMIC DCS354, not a DCS356D1 kit.
Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
Other yellow add-ons, not second wraps on this page: DCC020IB inflator (12V cord in the box; full review) and the DCF845B above. Circular-saw tool-only boxes (DCS570B) showed a third-party seller — send them to Best Circular Saws instead of guessing a wrap.
Already on ONE+
Same rule: tool-only, green packs they already own.
Ryobi PCL031B — the green inflator
Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
18V ONE+ dual-function digital inflator / deflator. 160 PSI (Ryobi). Auto-shutoff. Sports needle, Presta, pinch-valve adapters. Tool only. Ryobi lists $69.97; check current price and seller on Amazon. Cordless only — no 12V or 120V cord in the carton. If the pack is dead in the driveway, this one sits.
Who it’s for. Already in ONE+. Same packs as the rest of the green aisle.
Who it’s not for. Starting from zero. Anyone who needed a wall plug in the box — that is the Craftsman CMCE520B. Already on 20V MAX — DCC020IB. Full list: Best Tire Inflators.
Caveats. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Confirm PCL031B, not a “fits Ryobi” clone or a mislabeled kit listing.
Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
Other ONE+ add-ons: PCL406B 5-inch ROS (Ryobi lists $60; confirm the live title is still PCL406B) and PBLMT51B Gen II oscillating (check availability on Amazon, often third-party). The ONE+ HP impact driver PSBID01 is discontinued on Ryobi.com — do not wrap that leftover.
First kit from zero
No packs on the shelf. The carton has to include a battery and a charger.
DeWalt DCD771C2 — two batteries and a bag
The classic 20V MAX compact drill/driver kit: brushed, 1/2-inch ratcheting chuck, two 1.3Ah packs, charger, contractor bag. Check current price and seller on Amazon. DeWalt rates 300 UWO and 0–450 / 0–1,500 RPM. Not brushless. No hammer. Read our full DeWalt DCD771C2 review.
The same kit also has a second DeWalt listing. Check current price and seller on Amazon.
The brushless swap is the DCD777D1 (check availability on Amazon, often third-party) — one 2.0Ah, no bag, 340 UWO (DeWalt). Read our full DeWalt DCD777D1 review. Two small packs beat one when the gift has to last an afternoon. Full drill list: Best Cordless Drills. Hard $100 cap: Best Cordless Drill Under $100.
Who it’s for. First tool. Furniture, shelves, a TV mount, and a platform they can add a saw or a driver to later.
Who it’s not for. They already own 20V MAX — you would be paying for a charger and two small packs they do not need. Wrap the DCS356B or the DCF845B instead. They already live in ONE+ or M18 — stay there. Want brushless — DCD777D1.
Caveats. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Confirm the two-battery kit, not a bare DCD771B. Brushed. One platform lock-in.
DeWalt DCK240C2 — drill + impact in one box
Two-tool carton: DCD771 1/2-inch drill/driver and DCF885 1/4-hex impact driver, two 1.3Ah packs, charger, contractor bag. Both motors brushed. The impact is the older compact DCF885, not the current XR DCF845 / DCF887. Read our full DeWalt DCK240C2 review. Check current price and seller on Amazon.
This is a combo, not a substitute for a current 3-speed XR if they already own batteries. See Best Impact Drivers.
Who it’s for. Starting from zero and you want a chuck and a hex driver on day one, on 20V MAX. The box looks like a real kit.
Who it’s not for. They already own yellow packs. Anyone who wanted brushless on both tools — the DCK277C2 is not linked here. Only need one drill? That is the DCD771C2 or DCD777D1.
Caveats. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Confirm the carton still lists both tools and two 1.3Ah packs. Brushed. Combo.
From-zero kits we are not wrapping as a ninth product: SKIL OS5920B-10 oscillating (2.0Ah + charger; full review) and SKIL ID6739B-10 1/4-hex (2.0Ah + PWRJUMP; full review). Fine if they already have a cheap drill and you want one SKIL tool. Platform lock-in is the hidden cost.
Garage / compressor
A handheld inflator tops off a tire. It will not run a nailer. If the gift is for a detached garage, wrap a pancake.
Bostitch BTFP02012 — a 6-gallon pancake
Six gallons, oil-free, 150 PSI max, 2.6 CFM @ 90 PSI. Availability varies on Amazon, and it is often third-party. Enough for brad, finish, and a framing nailer with a pause between bursts. Not enough for a 1/2-inch impact wrench or a paint gun.
Who it’s for. A detached garage, a hose they already own, trim and inflation. You do not need a combo kit.
Who it’s not for. Indoor trim in a finished house — pancakes in this class are loud. That quiet wrap is the California Air Tools 1P1060S (56 dB, 1.20 CFM @ 90 PSI; availability varies on Amazon). Already shopping Home Depot — the Ridgid OF60150HB is the same 2.6 CFM class there; we are not linking marketplace Ridgid listings. Want the yellow pancake — DWFP55126 (often third-party); check current availability on Amazon. Full write-ups: Best Air Compressors and Best Air Compressors Under $300.
Caveats. Check current availability on Amazon. Drain the tank. We do not have a manufacturer dB figure for the Bostitch, so we will not print one.
Milwaukee at Home Depot
No Amazon button.
Milwaukee 2953-20 — already red, pick it up at HD
Milwaukee’s current M18 FUEL 1/4-hex. Milwaukee rates 2,000 in-lbs, 3,900 RPM, 4,400 IPM, 4.47 inches, 2.2 lb, 4-mode including self-tapping. Those are manufacturer numbers, not a test from us. Check the current Home Depot price.
Who it’s for. They already live in M18 and you can walk into a Home Depot. The driver is the add-on most red kits are missing.
Who it’s not for. Anyone we would send to Amazon. Marketplace copies, including a 2953-20-NBX listing, show up. They are not first-party stock of a Home Depot exclusive. We are not linking those.
Cheaper HD wrap if they are on M12: the 2475-20 compact inflator; check the current Home Depot price. First M18 kit (not an Amazon pick): Wirecutter’s 2026 upgrade was the 3601-22CT compact brushless at HD. Already-M18 oscillating is the 2836-20. Mid-torque wrench is the 2962-20. Brand comparison: DeWalt vs Milwaukee vs Ryobi.
Caveats. Confirm the live Home Depot price. Tool only on the linked 2953-20 page — kits exist in the store.
How to pick a wrap
Platform first. Open the battery door, or look at the drill they already own. Yellow is 20V MAX. Green is ONE+. Red is M18 at Home Depot. Gray V20 is Craftsman. Wrapping a second charger is how these gifts get expensive.
Kit vs tool-only. From zero: DCD771C2, DCD777D1, DCK240C2, or a SKIL kit with a pack in the carton. Already on a platform: tool-only (DCS356B, PCL031B, Milwaukee 2953-20). Corded (DWE6423K, Bostitch) skips the battery question.
Do not wrap the wrong “impact.” A 1/4-hex impact driver drives screws. A square-drive impact wrench spins lug nuts. A drill still drills the hole.
Inflator vs pancake. Handheld (CMCE520B, PCL031B, DCC020IB) is tires and balls. A 6-gallon pancake is nailers. Do not wrap a handheld inflator to “get them a compressor.”
Third-party and stock. DCS356B and DCF845B have shown third-party sellers. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Buy Home Depot exclusives at Home Depot, not from third-party Amazon sellers.
FAQ
What is the best power tool gift in 2026? Starting from zero: DCD771C2 (two batteries) or the DCK240C2 combo. No battery needed: CMCE520B. Already on 20V MAX: DCS356B. Already on ONE+: PCL031B. Garage: Bostitch BTFP02012. Already Milwaukee: 2953-20 at Home Depot.
They already have a drill. What do I add? Same platform. Yellow: DCS356B oscillating, or DCF845B if they drive fasteners all afternoon. Green: PCL031B inflator, or PCL406B / PBLMT51B. Red: 2953-20 at Home Depot. Do not start a second battery aisle.
Is a combo kit a better gift than a single drill? If they have nothing, the DCK240C2 is the two-tool box. If one drill is enough, the DCD771C2 is the wrap — they can add a driver later on those same packs.
Should I buy Milwaukee on Amazon? No. M18 / M12 is Home Depot / authorized Milwaukee.
Can I wrap an impact wrench as a first tool? You can. You will still want a drill the first time they need a hole. The from-zero wrench kit we point to is the SKIL IW6720B-10 — compact 220 / 260 ft-lbs, not a rusted-truck mid-torque. See Best Impact Wrenches.
What about a circular saw? A 7-1/4 kit from zero is a real gift and a lot of saw to store. The SKIL CR5440B-10 kit exists (SKIL lists it around $140). Tool-only yellow 7-1/4s were third-party. Use Best Circular Saws if that is the tool they asked for.
