A tire inflator is a handheld pump for car, bike, and sports-ball tires. It is not a pancake compressor. If you landed here looking for a 6-gallon tank to run a nailer, leave this page and open that one.
We match manufacturer specs and kit contents to the Amazon listings we link. Prices move, so this page does not print street prices; check current price and seller on Amazon before you buy.
This is not a shop test. Milwaukee is a Home Depot exclusive in the US. Buy Home Depot exclusives at Home Depot, not from third-party Amazon sellers.
Need a garage compressor instead? Start with Best Air Compressors or Best Air Compressors Under $200. Pulling lugs first? Best Impact Wrench. Platform question: DeWalt vs Milwaukee vs Ryobi.
Quick verdict
Best overall cordless 20V: DeWalt DCC020IB — 20V MAX tool only that also runs the included 12V DC cord (110V AC adapter sold separately). Digital gauge, auto-shutoff, 160 PSI high-pressure range. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Check price on Amazon
Best from zero / 3-way V20: Craftsman CMCE520B — V20 tool only, but the box includes the 120V wall plug and the 12V car adapter. Digital, auto-shutoff. Check current price and seller on Amazon. The simple way to leave a gas-station hose if you do not already own yellow or green packs. Check current price and seller on Amazon
Best 12V / budget: AstroAI AIRUN H — cigarette-lighter 12V, digital, auto-shutoff, 9.8 ft cord. Check current price and seller on Amazon. The EPAuto (check availability on Amazon, often third-party) is the runner-up: 70 PSI class, listing says no LT / truck tires. Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
Already on ONE+: Ryobi PCL031B — 18V digital inflator/deflator, 160 PSI, tool only. Ryobi lists $69.97; check current price and seller on Amazon. Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
Comparison

| Ryobi PCL031B | Already ONE+ | 18V ONE+ battery only | 160 | Digital inflator/deflator; 0.49 SCFM @ 35 PSI / 16 SCFM high-volume (Ryobi); tool only; check current price and seller on Amazon | Check availability on Amazon (often third-party) |

| EPAuto AT-010-1Z | Budget 12V runner-up | 12V cigarette | 70 | Digital, auto-shutoff; listing: no LT/truck; check current price and seller on Amazon | Check availability on Amazon (often third-party) |
| SKIL IF5940-00 | Already PWR CORE 20 | 20V PWR CORE | 160 | Brushless dual-function; tool only; check current price and seller on Amazon; manufacturer list $89.99 | Check current price and seller on Amazon |
| Milwaukee 2475-20 | Already M12 | M12 battery | 120+ | TrueFill auto-shutoff; Home Depot exclusive; tool only | Home Depot only |
Ryobi also sells a cheaper high-pressure-only ONE+ body, PCL001B (Ryobi.com lists $39.97). Do not use B0DY31QJ4Q; that listing is a bulk pack, not the PCL001 kit. No Amazon link for that kit.
DeWalt DCC020IB — best overall cordless 20V
If you want one 20V MAX inflator and you already live in yellow, this is the current DeWalt. Digital gauge, auto-shutoff on high-pressure mode, LED, threaded chuck, high-volume hose for mattresses, deflate port. Tool only — no pack, no charger, no AC wall adapter in the box. The 12V DC cigarette cord is in the box.
Dealer spec sheets that match DeWalt literature rate high-pressure at 0.5 SCFM (ISO 1217) and high-volume at 15.2 SCFM, 3–160 PSI. The DeWalt manual tells you not to use accessories under 160 PSI and throws an OP error above 163 PSI. Those are published numbers, not a test from us.
Check current price and seller on Amazon. Home Depot also carries it. Confirm new vs renewed on the listing.
Who it’s for. Already on 20V MAX or FLEXVOLT and you want one inflator that will also run off the car 12V outlet when the pack is dead. Same packs run a cordless drill and an impact wrench.
Who it’s not for. Starting from zero — a bare tool plus a 20V pack and charger is not a first inflator. That job is the Craftsman (AC + 12V in the box) or a 12V AstroAI. Already on ONE+, V20, PWR CORE 20, or M12? Stay there. Anyone who needed a pancake for a nailer.
Specs that matter. 20V MAX. Digital. Auto-shutoff. High-pressure 3–160 PSI, 0.5 SCFM. High-volume 15.2 SCFM. 12V DC cord included. AC adapter sold separately. Tool only. Model DCC020IB. Amazon listing B07H39S9JQ.
Caveats. Sellers and prices change. Confirm the title is still the DCC020IB tool-only — not a renewed unit and not a random impact-driver bundle. 0.5 SCFM high-pressure is a tire top-off machine, not a shop compressor. 3-year limited warranty on the DeWalt tool.
Craftsman CMCE520B — from zero, or already on V20
Check current price and seller on Amazon
This is the 3-way V20 inflator. Digital gauge, auto-shutoff, high-pressure plus a large-volume hose in the box. Tool only for the V20 pack — and unlike the DeWalt, the 120V wall plug and the 12V car adapter ship in the same box.
That is why it is the from-zero pick on a cordless aisle. You can plug it into the wall tonight without buying a battery. If you later add V20 packs, it eats those too.
Check current price and seller on Amazon. Craftsman.com does not print a max PSI on the product page we opened; catalog listings typically put it at 160 PSI.
Who it’s for. No 18V / 20V packs on the shelf and you want one digital inflator that works on a wall outlet or a 12V socket. Or you already own V20 and you want the cheap add-on.
Who it’s not for. Already on 20V MAX — buy the DCC020IB, not a second charger family. Already on ONE+ — that is the PCL031B. Anyone who needed a verified manufacturer SCFM figure before they would buy. Anyone filling LT / truck tires as a daily job.
Specs that matter. V20. 3 power sources (battery / 120V AC / 12V). Digital. Auto-shutoff. Large-volume hose included. Tool only for the pack. Model CMCE520B. Amazon listing B07JLTMQJT.
Caveats. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Confirm the title is still CMCE520B, not a 4-tool combo or the unavailable kit. Brushed motor. 3-year limited warranty on the Craftsman tool.

Ryobi PCL031B — already on ONE+
Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
Current 18V ONE+ digital inflator/deflator. Auto-shutoff, digital gauge, LED, onboard accessory storage, high-volume inflate and deflate. Tool only.
Ryobi rates 160 PSI. The same PCL031 spec sheet lists 0.49 SCFM at 35 PSI on high-pressure and 16 SCFM on high-volume. Cordless only — no 12V or 120V cord in this box. If the pack is dead at the curb, this one sits.
Ryobi.com lists $69.97. Check current price and seller on Amazon.
Who it’s for. Already on ONE+ and you want the current digital dual-function body instead of the older P737 analog/high-pressure stick.
Who it’s not for. Starting from zero — you still need a ONE+ pack and charger. Ryobi.com sells a 2Ah toolkit option; the Amazon “PCL031K” listings we opened were not official Ryobi. Anyone who wanted a 12V cigarette unit that lives in the trunk with no battery to charge.
Specs that matter. 18V ONE+. Digital. Auto-shutoff. 160 PSI. 0.49 SCFM @ 35 PSI / 16 SCFM high-volume (Ryobi). Inflate and deflate. Tool only. Model PCL031B. Amazon listing B0CRFS4F6G.
Caveats. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Confirm B0CRFS4F6G is still the PCL031B tool-only, not a CUSHYBITE “fits Ryobi” kit. Cheaper ONE+ high-pressure-only body is PCL001B (Ryobi.com lists $39.97) — high-pressure only, no high-volume deflator.

AstroAI AIRUN H — best 12V, budget
Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
This is the 12V cigarette-lighter inflator on a budget. Digital gauge, auto-shutoff, LED, 9.8 ft cord. Model CZK-3631 / AIRUN H. Check current price and seller on Amazon.
It is not an 18V / 20V tool. It is not a 120V wall pump. The car has to be running or the 12V socket has to be live. That is the point: no pack to charge, no platform lock-in, trunk staple.
Who it’s for. A glove-box / trunk pump for passenger-car and bike top-offs. Starting from zero and you do not want a battery platform.
Who it’s not for. Anyone who wanted cordless away from the car. LT / heavy truck work. Anyone who thought a 12V plug-in replaces a pancake compressor.
Specs that matter. 12V DC. Digital. Auto-shutoff. 9.8 ft cord. AIRUN H / CZK-3631. Amazon listing B07VMM69N9. Listed at 100–150 PSI depending on the sibling listing — confirm the live listing.
Caveats. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Stay on B07VMM69N9, not the yellow sibling B07QR4Q42L. Do not confuse this with the cordless AstroAI L7 mini. 12V pumps in this class usually want a cooldown after a long run; that is the manufacturer’s duty-cycle warning, not a test we ran.
Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
EPAuto AT-010-1Z — budget 12V runner-up
Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
Same 12V cigarette job as the AstroAI, older listing, more caveats. Digital display (PSI / KPA / BAR / KG/CM), auto-shutoff, LED flashlight. Check current price and seller on Amazon.
Listing bullets: 12V DC only, 10–15 A, 120–180 W, maximum working pressure 70 PSI, 1.06 CFM inflating-speed claim. Does not support LT, heavy-duty, or truck tires. About-this-item copy limits it to cars, bikes, sedan and midsize SUV.
Who it’s for. Shoppers who specifically want this long-running EPAuto listing and will stay inside passenger-car pressures.
Who it’s not for. Truck / LT tires. Anyone who will only buy from Amazon.com. Anyone who needed more than 70 PSI.
Specs that matter. 12V DC cigarette. Digital. Auto-shutoff. 70 PSI max (listing). Model AT-010-1Z / X1351D2. Amazon listing B01L9WSTEG.
Caveats. Check current price and seller on Amazon. 70 PSI is the hard limit on the listing — do not treat this as a 160 PSI cordless twin.

SKIL IF5940-00 — already on PWR CORE 20
Check current price and seller on Amazon
20V PWR CORE dual-function inflator/deflator, brushless, digital gauge, auto-shutoff, LED, high-volume hose. Tool only. SKIL rates 160 PSI. Retail listings show 14.4 CFM on the high-volume side. Manufacturer list $89.99.
Check current price and seller on Amazon. The Amazon listing matches the IF5940-00.
Who it’s for. Already on PWR CORE 20 and you want the inflator that eats those packs.
Who it’s not for. Starting from zero — tool only, and the manufacturer battery + charger stack is not a budget kit. Already on 20V MAX, ONE+, V20, or M12. Do not buy the PWR CORE 12 IF5943-00 thinking it is this tool.
Specs that matter. 20V PWR CORE 20. Brushless. Digital. Auto-shutoff. 160 PSI. Tool only. Model IF5940-00. Amazon listing B07Z4FLNX5.
Caveats. Manufacturer list $89.99; check current price and seller on Amazon. Confirm B07Z4FLNX5 is still the 20V IF5940-00, not the 12V IF5943-00.

Milwaukee 2475-20 — Home Depot exclusive, not an Amazon buy
Check the price at Home Depot for the M12 Compact Inflator, tool only. Confirm in the store or on HD’s page.
Milwaukee rates it over 120 PSI, TrueFill auto-shutoff, backlit LCD, 26-inch hose, brass Schrader chuck. Tool only on 2475-20. Kits with M12 packs exist at HD. We are not linking those as Amazon.
Who it’s for. Already on M12 and you can pick it up at Home Depot.
Who it’s not for. Anyone we would send to Amazon.
Caveats. Confirm the Home Depot price. Milwaukee is the M12 benchmark on this page, not an Amazon button.
Buying guide
This is not a pancake. A tire inflator tops off a Schrader or Presta valve. A 6-gallon pancake stores air for nailers. If the job is trim, framing, or a blow gun all afternoon, use Best Air Compressors Under $200 or Best Air Compressors.
12V cigarette vs cordless 18/20V vs corded 120V. 12V (AstroAI, EPAuto, and the car cords on the DeWalt / Craftsman) needs a live 12V socket — usually with the engine running. Cordless 18/20V (DeWalt, Ryobi, SKIL, Milwaukee M12) walks away from the car if you have a charged pack. 120V AC (Craftsman in the box; DeWalt with a sold-separately adapter) is the garage-outlet mode. Do not buy a 12V-only pump expecting it to run on a wall outlet.
Digital vs analog. Every pick on this page is digital with auto-shutoff except the older Ryobi P737-class sticks we are not featuring. Set the PSI, walk away, it should stop. Still check the sidewall number with a separate gauge if the listing is a no-name 12V.
Max PSI and CFM. Passenger cars live around 30–40 PSI. Many light-truck / LT sidewalls sit higher. EPAuto’s listing is 70 PSI and says no truck/LT. The 18/20V platform inflators are 160 PSI class (Milwaukee 120+). High-pressure CFM on these handhelds is small — DeWalt 0.5, Ryobi 0.49 @ 35 PSI. That is a top-off, not a shop compressor. High-volume CFM (DeWalt 15.2, Ryobi 16, SKIL 14.4) is the mattress / raft hose, not tire air.
Kit vs tool only. AstroAI and EPAuto are complete 12V units. Craftsman CMCE520B is tool-only for the V20 pack but includes AC and 12V cords. DeWalt, Ryobi PCL031B, SKIL, and Milwaukee 2475-20 are tool-only. Official Amazon kits with a pack in the box were either unavailable, bulk packs from third-party sellers, or a wrong combo. Do not buy a “Ryobi kit” listing that is not Ryobi.
Platform lock-in. DeWalt 20V MAX, Ryobi ONE+, Craftsman V20, SKIL PWR CORE 20, and Milwaukee M12 do not share packs. Already own a drill kit? Buy the inflator that eats those batteries. Brand comparison: DeWalt vs Milwaukee vs Ryobi.

FAQ
Which tire inflator should I buy in 2026? Already on 20V MAX: DCC020IB. Already on V20, or starting from zero and you want a wall plug in the box: CMCE520B. Already on ONE+: PCL031B. Trunk 12V on a budget: AstroAI AIRUN H. Already on PWR CORE 20: IF5940-00. Already on M12: Milwaukee 2475-20 at Home Depot.
Do I need cordless or 12V? Cordless if you already own the packs and you want to walk around the car. 12V if the inflator will live in the trunk and you will start the engine. The DeWalt and Craftsman do both (DeWalt’s AC adapter is sold separately; Craftsman’s AC cord is in the box).
Can a tire inflator run a nailer or an impact wrench? No. High-pressure output on these handhelds is about 0.5 CFM. A nailer wants a tank. An impact wrench is a battery tool, not an air tool, on this site.
Will the EPAuto do truck tires? The listing says no — not LT, not heavy-duty, not truck. 70 PSI class. Use a 160 PSI platform inflator, or a real 12V truck compressor, or a garage compressor.
Should I just buy Milwaukee? If you already own M12, buy the 2475-20 at Home Depot. It is the M12 benchmark, not an Amazon recommendation.
Where did the pancake go? Different machine. Best Air Compressors and Best Air Compressors Under $200.
