A track saw on this page is a plunge-cut circular saw that rides a guide rail: break down a 4×8 sheet on the floor, rip a cabinet side, cut a door to length without dragging the sheet onto a table saw. It is not a 7-1/4 framing circular saw used freehand, and it is not a rail-only accessory pack. Profile the edge after the cut with a router.
We do not hand-test these tools. We use manufacturer ratings, then check that the Amazon listing is a real US product page (or Home Depot for Milwaukee / Ridgid). Prices move, so this page does not print street prices; check current price and seller on Amazon before you buy.
Milwaukee and Ridgid are Home Depot exclusives in the US. We do not send you to an Amazon third-party listing for those lines. Same shop: Best Circular Saws, Best Table Saws, Best Routers.

DeWalt DWS520K (B001J69QAO) is a real corded TrackSaw listing — DeWalt’s official includes list is saw + blade + wrench + kit box, no track. We kept the DeWalt slot on the FlexVolt kit. Makita SP6000J (B00QJV6NJQ) is the saw without a rail. WEN CT1065 (B07VFXFTVP) is a real plunge listing — budget slot stayed on Evolution.
Festool TS 55 FEQ-F-Plus-FS — best premium / cabinet edge
Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
If the cut is the show face — cabinet sides, doors, veneered sheet goods — this is the default pro rail saw. Festool (TS 55 FEQ-F-Plus, 576708): 1,200 W, 2,000–5,800 RPM, 6-1/4 in (160 mm) blade, 0–2-1/8 in depth, 1-11/16 in at 45°, bevel −1° to 47°, 10.58 lb, 13.1 ft plug-it cord (Festool). Attachable splinter guard. Spring-loaded riving knife. Dust 27/36 mm. Festool’s “up to twice as fast” is a manufacturer figure, not a test from us. Amazon catalog B0897YPSF8 is the FS kit: saw + 55 in (1400 mm) rail. Check current price and seller on Amazon. Skip a rail-only Festool ASIN.
Who it’s for. Cabinet, door, and finish work where the rail system, extractor, and MFT table already matter. Paying for the rail in the same box.
Who it’s not for. Need a budget first track kit — Evolution. Already on LXT or FlexVolt and will not add a corded Festool — XPS01Z or DCS520T1. Already on M18 — Home Depot 2831-20.
Specs that matter. Festool TS 55 FEQ-F-Plus-FS. Amazon B0897YPSF8. Watt, RPM, depth, and 10.58 lb are Festool’s.
Caveats. The 55 in rail is in this kit; longer rails are extra. Watt and RPM figures are Festool’s.

Makita SP6000J1 — best corded kit with a rail
If you want one corded plunge saw and a 55 in rail in the same order, this is the kit shoppers actually open. Makita: 12 A, 2,000–5,200 RPM, 6-1/2 in / 20 mm, 2-3/16 in at 90°, 1-9/16 in at 45°, bevel −1° to 48° with 22.5° and 45° stops, close-to-wall 11/16 in, saw 9.7 lb (Makita). Soft start, electronic speed hold, electric brake, scoring depth stop. Official carton: SP6000J, 48T B-07353, hex, MAKPAC case, 55 in rail 194368-5. Amazon catalog B0B1N3KZ4S is that kit plus Makita’s E-05664 rail bag. Check current price and seller on Amazon. The standard SP6000J1 is UPC 088381650823 (HD Internet #204338179). Skip B00QJV6NJQ (no rail) and Renewed B07QX71DPC.
Who it’s for. Sheet goods, doors, and finish work when you want a cord and a rail without Festool money.
Who it’s not for. Already on two 18V LXT packs and want cordless — XPS01Z. Need FlexVolt — DCS520T1. Saw-only, no rail — that is SP6000J, not this kit.
Specs that matter. Model SP6000J1. Amazon B0B1N3KZ4S. Amp, RPM, and 9.7 lb are Makita’s.
Caveats. Confirm the live title still includes the 55 in rail and the saw, not a bag-only ASIN. Amp and RPM figures are Makita’s.
DeWalt DCS520T1 — best cordless 60V
If the rest of the truck is FlexVolt, this is the 6-1/2 in plunge that takes those packs. DeWalt: 60V MAX brushless, 1,750–4,000 RPM, on-track 2-1/8 in at 90° and 1-5/8 in at 45°, 47° bevel, straight plunge, anti-kickback + riving knife. DeWalt’s “90% dust extraction” is a manufacturer figure. Official kit: DCS520, DCB606 6.0Ah, DCB118 charger, blade, wrench, TSTAK. Rail is not in the kit. Amazon catalog B071H47F9M. Check current price, stock and seller on Amazon.
Who it’s for. Already on FlexVolt / 20V MAX. Same 6Ah pack as other 60V tools. No cord across a finished floor.
Who it’s not for. Buying the tool plus a 55–59 in track from zero — price the rail yourself; we are linking the kit. Already on M18 — Home Depot 2831-20. Already on LXT — XPS01Z.
Specs that matter. Model DCS520T1. Amazon B071H47F9M. Confirm the title is still the kit with the 6.0Ah, not a tool-only or track-only ASIN.
Caveats. Rail sold separately. RPM and dust claims are DeWalt’s.
Makita XPS01Z — best already-LXT cordless
Same plunge geometry as the SP6000, on two 18V LXT packs. Makita: brushless, 2,500–6,300 RPM, 6-1/2 in, 2-3/16 in at 90°, 1-9/16 in at 45°, bevel −1° to 48°, 13-5/8 in, 11.2 lb with batteries (Makita). Automatic Speed Change, soft start, electric brake, scoring depth stop. Tool only — batteries, charger, and rail sold separately. In the carton: 55T B-57071 + hex. Amazon catalog B073K8VGTH; check current price and seller on Amazon. Optional 55 in rail is Makita 194368-5 — the same rail as the SP6000J1.
Who it’s for. Already on 18V LXT with two packs to spare. Same batteries as a cordless drill.
Who it’s not for. Starting from zero — you would be buying two packs, a charger, and a rail on top of a tool-only box. Want the rail in the carton — SP6000J1. Already on M18 — Home Depot 2831-20.
Specs that matter. Model XPS01Z. Amazon B073K8VGTH. Confirm the title is still tool-only, not a two-battery XPS01PTJ kit.
Caveats. Rail sold separately. Needs two LXT packs. RPM and 11.2 lb are Makita’s.
Evolution R185CCSX — best budget with a track in the box
Check availability on Amazon (often third-party)
If you need a budget saw-plus-track carton and you are not paying Makita money, this is the listing shoppers actually open. Evolution: 15 A, 7-1/4 in multi-material TCT, 2-1/2 in depth, 0–45° bevel, 40 in track supplied as three pieces with connectors (Evolution). Dust port + adapter. This is a circular saw that rides a track, not a spring-plunge Festool / Makita. Amazon catalog B07T4CZP31. Check current price and seller on Amazon. 4.3 stars, 311 reviews on the catalog snippet. Skip B07T26R82N (bag kit).
Who it’s for. Occasional sheet-good rips and mixed wood / plastic / thin metal on a tight budget and a 40 in three-piece track is enough.
Who it’s not for. Daily cabinet work or a one-piece 55 in rail — SP6000J1 or Festool. Need a true plunge saw on M18 / LXT / FlexVolt — those picks above.
Specs that matter. Model R185CCSX. Amazon B07T4CZP31. Amp and 2-1/2 in depth are Evolution’s.
Caveats. Confirm new. The 40 in track is three pieces. Not a plunge-cut track saw.

Milwaukee M18 FUEL 2831-20 — Home Depot exclusive, not an Amazon buy
Sold at Home Depot for the tool-only 6-1/2 in plunge. Internet #315442335.
Milwaukee: POWERSTATE brushless, 2,500–5,600 RPM (manual; Milwaukee also publishes 5,600 RPM), 6-1/2 in / 20 mm, 2-1/4 in at 0°, 1-5/8 in at 45°, bevel −1° to 48°, about 9.8 lb without a pack (Milwaukee press). Adjustable cam for rail fit. Vac port + dust bag. Milwaukee’s “over 90% dust collection” and “power to rip solid hardwoods” are manufacturer figures, not tests from us. Tool only — M18 pack and Milwaukee rail sold separately. A saw + 55 in rail combo is also sold (Internet #321036665) — not the pick.
Who it’s for. Already on M18. Same packs as other jobsite tools. No cord over a finished floor.
Who it’s not for. Anyone we would send to Amazon. Marketplace listings are third-party or generic. We are not linking those.
Caveats. Confirm the Home Depot price. Tool only. Rail sold separately. RPM and dust claims are Milwaukee’s.
How to pick a track saw
Plunge vs circular-on-track. Festool, Makita, DeWalt, and Milwaukee are plunge-cut saws built for a rail. Evolution is a 7-1/4 circular that rides a three-piece track. Different tool.
Rail in the box. SP6000J1 and the Festool FS kit include a 55 in rail. DCS520T1, XPS01Z, and Milwaukee 2831-20 do not — budget a second 55–59 in rail if you do not already own one.
Cord vs pack. Corded is cheaper and does not die mid-sheet. DeWalt if the rest of the bag is FlexVolt. Makita XPS01Z if you already own two LXT packs. Milwaukee if the rest of the truck is M18 — Home Depot only.
Depth. 2-1/8 to 2-3/16 in (Festool / Makita / DeWalt) covers 8/4 and most doors. Milwaukee lists 2-1/4 in. Evolution lists 2-1/2 in on a 7-1/4 blade.
After the cut. Break down the sheet here. Rip narrower parts on a table saw. Profile with a router. Framing and 2x still belong to a circular saw.
FAQ
Which track saw should I buy in 2026? The TS 55 FEQ-F-Plus-FS if you want the Festool rail kit. The SP6000J1 if you want a corded 6-1/2 with a 55 in rail. The DCS520T1 if you already live in FlexVolt. The XPS01Z if you already live in LXT. The R185CCSX if you want a budget track kit. Milwaukee 2831-20 at Home Depot if you already live in M18.
Does the DeWalt kit include a track? The DCS520T1 kit we are linking does not. DeWalt’s official includes list is saw, 6.0Ah FlexVolt, charger, blade, wrench, TSTAK. Buy a dual-edge track separately. The corded DWS520K official includes list is also saw + case, no track.
Why no Amazon link for Milwaukee? Home Depot exclusive. Same rule for Ridgid. We will not send you to a third-party Amazon listing.
Is a track saw a circular saw? Related, not the same buy. A 7-1/4 cordless circular is for 2x and rough sheet work — see best circular saws. A track saw is for guided, splinter-controlled rips.

Prices and Amazon offers change. We don’t list live prices; check Amazon for the current price and seller. Manufacturer amp, watt, RPM, depth, weight, noise, and dust-collection claims are the manufacturers’ published ratings, not tests we ran.
