The DeWalt DCW210 and DCW200 are not two versions of the same sander. The DCW210D1 is a 5-inch random-orbit kit for broad faces and general finish prep. The DCW200B is a rectangular 1/4-sheet sander that reaches square corners and runs common cut sheets—but the Amazon carton is tool-only.
Short answer: Buy the DCW210D1 if this will be your first or only cordless sander. Buy the DCW200B if you already own DeWalt 20V MAX batteries and specifically need a sheet sander for corners, edges, rails, or narrow flat work.

The real difference: random-orbit disc vs quarter-sheet platen
The DCW210 puts a round 5-inch disc on DeWalt’s random-orbit mechanism. DeWalt says its random orbital action can sand with the grain or at an angle across it for most sanding jobs. The round pad and quick hook-and-loop disc changes make it the more natural choice for larger exposed surfaces such as a tabletop, door face, cabinet side, or painted panel.
The DCW200 uses orbital action with a rectangular platen. DeWalt says it can sand flush on three sides, which is the meaningful advantage: a square sheet can reach a 90-degree inside corner that the DCW210’s round pad physically cannot. DeWalt recommends finishing with the grain on the final sheet-sander passes.
Do not choose by the larger OPM number alone. The DCW200’s 14,000-OPM maximum does not make it a faster or better DCW210. Pad geometry and the workpiece decide this comparison.
Abrasives and ongoing cost
The DCW210 takes 5-inch, 8-hole hook-and-loop discs. They are quick to swap, but the holes need to align with the pad if you want through-pad dust collection. DeWalt lists the replaceable DWE64233 8-hole hook-and-loop pad for this sander.
The DCW200 takes a 4-1/2 × 5-1/2-inch quarter sheet under front and rear clamps. DeWalt says you can cut one standard 9 × 11-inch sheet into four pieces or buy pre-cut quarter sheets. That makes the DCW200 attractive if you already keep ordinary sheet abrasive in several grits. Use the included paper punch after clamping unperforated paper so dust can reach the extraction holes.
The consumables are not interchangeable. A box of 5-inch discs does not fit the DCW200, and quarter sheets do not fit the DCW210.
Dust collection: similar ports, one extra step on the DCW200
Both sanders include a locking dust bag and connect directly to DeWalt DWV010 or DWV012 dust collectors. DeWalt specifies the DWV9000 universal quick connector for other vacuum systems with 1-1/4-inch hoses.
- Standard sheet paper must be punched for through-pad collection; the punch is included.
- The DCW200’s included short dust chute is for batteries up to 5Ah. DeWalt lists long chute N684701, sold separately, for 6Ah and larger packs.
Neither dust bag replaces appropriate eye and respiratory protection. DeWalt also directs users to empty sanding dust frequently, especially after sanding coated surfaces.
Battery and carton differences change the value calculation
This comparison pits a DCW210D1 kit against a DCW200B bare tool, so any price gap between the two listings is not an apples-to-apples tool price.
The DCW210D1 kit includes the sander, a DCB203 2.0Ah compact battery, DCB112 charger, carrying bag, and dust bag. It can be used out of the box after charging. The compact 2.0Ah pack keeps the setup small, but buyers planning long sanding sessions may still want another charged pack.
The DCW200B includes the sander, dust bag, paper punch, and short dust chute. It does not include a battery or charger. It is the better-value carton mainly for someone who already owns compatible DeWalt 20V MAX packs.
Which DeWalt sander should you buy?
Buy the DCW210D1 if this is your first cordless sander
For most buyers, the DCW210D1 is the answer. It covers the broader general-purpose sanding lane, its abrasives change quickly, and this specific carton includes the battery and charger. Choose it for furniture faces, doors, cabinets, panels, paint preparation, and other work where a 5-inch round pad fits.

Buy the DCW200B if square corners are the job
Choose the DCW200B when the rectangular pad is the reason you are shopping: inside corners, three-side flush sanding, narrow rails, edges, trim, and smaller flat parts. It also makes sense if you prefer cutting quarter sheets from common 9 × 11-inch abrasive paper and already have DeWalt batteries on the shelf.

Decisive verdict
Buy the DCW210D1 for most sanding work and for any first-time DeWalt cordless-sander purchase. Its 5-inch random-orbit format is the more versatile one-sander setup, and the D1 carton includes a battery and charger.
Buy the DCW200B instead only when its rectangular sheet is the feature you need or when it will complement a random orbital you already own. It is not the cheaper complete setup unless you already have a compatible pack and charger.
If neither format is an obvious match—or if you would rather use a cord than buy batteries—compare the wider field in our Best Orbital Sanders 2026 guide. For aggressive stock removal rather than finish prep, go to Best Belt Sanders 2026.
FAQ
Is the DCW200 better because it reaches 14,000 OPM?
No. OPM does not erase the difference between a rectangular sheet sander and a 5-inch random orbital. Buy the DCW210 for broad general sanding; buy the DCW200 for square-corner access and quarter-sheet abrasives.
Can the DCW210 sand into a square corner?
Its round pad cannot reach the point of a 90-degree inside corner. The DCW200 is designed to sand flush on three sides and is the better pick for that work.
Can I use the same sandpaper on both?
No. The DCW210 uses 5-inch, 8-hole hook-and-loop discs. The DCW200 uses 4-1/2 × 5-1/2-inch quarter sheets held by clamps.
Which is better for a tabletop?
The DCW210 is the default choice because its 5-inch random-orbit pad is suited to broad exposed faces. The DCW200 is the specialist for corners, edges, and smaller flats.
Do both sanders use the same DeWalt batteries?
Both are DeWalt 20V MAX tools. The compared DCW210D1 carton includes a 2.0Ah battery and charger; the DCW200B carton does not.
